Title: Workday Time Tracking Architect  

Location: Remote (possible travel) 

Client Industry: Professional Services 

Compensation: $70 - $95/hr. (contract)

We have partnered with our client in their search for a Workday Time Tracking Architect. The Workday Time Tracking Architect leads end-to-end delivery of Workday Time Tracking—covering time entry, compliance rules, scheduling, and integrations with payroll and absence. The role partners with HR Operations, Payroll, Absence Management, IT Integration, and Finance to align designs with broader Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) strategies. Success is measured by on-time go-lives, clean test pass rates, policy compliance, integration stability, and sustained data integrity and security post-deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end Workday Time Tracking implementations and optimizations across time entry, compliance rules, scheduling, and integrations with payroll and absence
  • Architect scalable time tracking configurations aligned to broader Workday HCM and ERP strategies
  • Manage project scope, plans, risks, issues, and change control across multiple workstreams
  • Facilitate requirements and design workshops and translate outcomes into configuration and test plans
  • Oversee unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) and coordinate cutover and deployment activities
  • Establish data integrity, security, and audit controls for time data in accordance with organizational policies
  • Provide post-go-live hypercare, knowledge transfer, and continuous improvement roadmaps
  • Partner with HR, Payroll, Absence, IT integration, and Finance to drive adoption and measurable business outcomes

Skills Required

  • Workday Time Tracking certification and deep configuration expertise across time entry, time calculation/compliance rules, and work schedules
  • 4+ years leading Workday Time Tracking implementations including configuration, testing, deployment, and support
  • 8+ years working with HCM (Human Capital Management) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) platforms such as PeopleSoft or SAP HCM, including leadership responsibilities
  • Experience integrating Workday Time Tracking with payroll and absence management systems and coordinating end-to-end testing
  • Ability to manage large-scale projects and communicate clearly through executive-ready documents and presentations
  • Strong documentation and analytical skills with attention to data quality and reconciliation
  • Familiarity with financial and cost management policies and how they impact time tracking, accruals, and downstream payroll
  • Knowledge of ERP system concepts and module interdependencies related to time, payroll, and HCM
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team-building in consulting or internal delivery environments
  • Optional when scope includes Financials: 5+ years Workday Financials implementation/upgrade experience, completion of at least one Workday Financials full lifecycle, and Workday Financials certification

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field preferred or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in HCM/ERP systems with leadership responsibilities
  • 4+ years hands-on leading Workday Time Tracking implementations
  • Workday Time Tracking certification required; Workday Financials certification preferred if Financials is in scope
