Title: Workday Security Lead
Location: Remote (monthly travel)

Compensation: $70 - $85/hr. (contract)
We have partnered with our client in their search for a Workday Security Lead. The Workday Security Lead designs, configures, and governs security for the client’s Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) program. The role partners with HRIS, enterprise cybersecurity, and the implementation partner to embed robust, scalable controls across role-, user-, and domain-based access and business processes. Success is measured by low-defect security in System Integration Testing/User Acceptance Testing (SIT/UAT), timely governance approvals, and complete, auditable documentation enabling a secure go-live across all in-scope modules.
Responsibilities
- Lead and co-facilitate security design workshops with client stakeholders
- Design and configure Workday security architecture, including role- and user-based security groups
- Configure domain and business process security policies across in-scope modules
- Implement segmented security for sensitive data such as compensation, absence, and documents
- Align security design with overall system architecture in partnership with functional and technical leads
- Coordinate with enterprise cybersecurity to meet Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Identity and Access Management (IDAM), encryption, and firewall requirements
- Support testing cycles by validating access controls and resolving security-related defects during SIT/UAT
- Create clear security design documents, configuration logs, and handover materials; deliver knowledge transfer and training to client teams
Skills Required
- Expert knowledge of Workday configurable security, including domain policies, business process security, and security groups
- Proven track record supporting large-scale or global Workday deployments
- Practical experience integrating with enterprise SSO, MFA, and IDAM solutions
- Ability to triage and resolve access issues and defects in SIT/UAT
- Strong collaboration skills to partner with functional, technical, and cybersecurity teams in a fast-paced setting
- Excellent communication with the ability to produce clear security documentation and training content
- Experience aligning Workday security with broader enterprise cybersecurity standards and controls
- Experience preparing environments for go-live and post-go-live stabilization with minimal access incidents
- Proficiency organizing and maintaining security configuration inventories and change logs
- Exposure to Workday Financials security and upgrade cycles a plus
Education & Work Experience
- Relevant degree in information systems, computer science, or equivalent experience
- 5–7 years in Workday security design and implementation
- Workday Security certification
- Full-cycle Workday HCM implementation experience; Workday Financials experience preferred
