Job Title: Workday Security Lead

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Workday Security Lead to join a critical HR technology initiative on an interim-to-hire basis. This role is both strategic and hands-on, responsible for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust Workday security controls. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Workday security architecture, compliance, and incident response, and will play a key role in supporting enterprise-wide workforce planning and regulatory initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of Workday security controls, including domain and business process security policies, security groups, and user-based assignments.
  • Support SOX compliance efforts by ensuring security configurations meet audit standards and preparing documentation for review.
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement remediation strategies.
  • Translate business needs into security requirements and workflows in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Plan, configure, and test security solutions in alignment with organizational workforce planning strategies.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members and contribute to broader HR technology initiatives.
  • Build and maintain non-functional monitoring capabilities and provide escalated support for complex production issues.
  • Participate in Agile delivery processes and utilize tools such as Rally for project tracking and collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • 5–8 years of experience in HR Technology projects and teams.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience with Workday Security across HCM.
  • Proven experience configuring and maintaining Workday security roles, dynamic groups, and user-based assignments.
  • Strong understanding of Workday Adaptive Planning and its alignment with workforce planning strategies.
  • Familiarity with Technology Development Life Cycle (TDLC) and Agile frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Rally or similar Agile project management tools.
  • Background in supporting regulatory initiatives and enterprise-scale HR transformations.
