Location: Remote

Compensation: $70 - $90/hr. (12+ month contract)

We have partnered with our client in their search for a Workday Financials Lead — Projects, Business Assets & Customer Accounts. In this role you will lead end-to-end delivery and optimization of Workday Financial Management with focus on Projects, Business Assets, and Customer Accounts (AR). Drive design workshops, configure scalable solutions (worktags/FDM, accounting rules, posting logic), oversee data conversion and integrations, and orchestrate testing, cutover, and hypercare. Post-go-live, manage the support team (triage, SLAs, release readiness) and partner with Finance/Accounting, IT, and Data teams to continuously improve performance, controls, and user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Workday Financials deployment for Projects, Business Assets, and Customer Accounts: facilitate discovery, fit/gap, and future-state design.
  • Configure FDM/Worktags, accounting/posting rules, project structures, asset books, depreciation methods, customer profiles, invoicing, and collections workflows.
  • Build/review integrations (EIB, Studio/REST) and partner with technical teams on file formats, error handling, and monitoring.
  • Own data conversion strategy and execution for projects, assets, customers, and open items; define mapping, validation, and reconciliation controls.
  • Plan and run testing (unit, SIT, UAT), defect triage, regression, and cutover activities; lead hypercare and production validation.
  • Manage the support team post-go-live: intake/triage, prioritization, SLAs, knowledge base/runbooks, and release readiness for Workday updates (R1/R2).
  • Partner with Finance/Accounting, IT, and Security to ensure controls, segregation of duties, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Define KPIs and dashboards to track adoption, data quality, and process performance; drive continuous improvement and standardization.
  • Communicate status, risks, and decisions clearly to stakeholders and leadership.

Skills Required

  • Expert knowledge of Workday Projects, Business Assets, and Customer Accounts (AR) configuration and business processes.
  • Strong grasp of FDM/Worktags, accounting fundamentals (project accounting, capitalization, depreciation, AR), and posting logic.
  • Hands-on with Report Writer, Calculated Fields, EIB, and Workday Studio/REST; familiarity with BIRT or Prism is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of Workday Security (domain/business process), release management, and migration promotion.
  • Excellent documentation, analytical thinking, and stakeholder communication; comfortable leading workshops and managing cross-functional teams.

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s in Information Systems, Accounting/Finance, Computer Science, or related field (from an accredited institution).
  • 5+ years with Workday Financials implementations/upgrades; at least one full-cycle Workday FIN implementation as a functional lead.
  • Active Workday certifications in Projects, Business Assets, and Customers (required); Workday Financials core certification strongly preferred.
