A DAY IN THE LIFE

The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for driving and growing revenue plan across the national Remediation & Consulting businesses., including soil and water remediation, planning and ecosystems consulting, and air and regulatory consulting. It is expected that he/she will analyze the complexities inherent in the business and with the Remediation & Consulting leadership team, creating the overall go-to-market sales strategy for the division. He/she is expected to bring a balance of strategic thought and capable execution to the position. The Vice President of Sales, working closely with operations and marketing to align on the marketing focus and marketing dollars and the allocation of these resources for the business line.

While a keen understanding of the environmental services industry is preferred, it is more important that the candidate have a proven nationwide technical services industry background.

The Vice President of Sales will

  • Grow the Remediation & Consulting sales organization and direct reports as it evolves into a more sophisticated model that will expand services and geographic locations; in short, be a change agent;
  • Gain the respect of the business leaders and be seen as someone who has a seat at the table;
  • Forge strong working relationships with his/her peers and direct reports in order to ensure the execution of sales strategies and initiatives to attain the sales revenue goals and profitability in accordance with the agreed upon sales plan;
  • Thrive in a sales culture with a “hunter” mentality while instituting infrastructure, and process changes focused on generating greater organic growth;
  • Have taught technical experts/stars how to generate leads, develop clients, sell and close solutions across business lines;
  • Lead strategy development processes for organic growth and bring the required strategic market and competitive knowledge necessary to achieve the sales plan based on market demand and the competitive landscape;
  • Manage the relationships with the current and future customer base in order to create new ways to add value for customers through add-on services currently not offered;
  • Lead, hire, and develop direct reports as to ensure that the sales organization has a deep bench of capable management talent.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility, listed in the A Day in the Life section above, satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, or other science discipline; a PE or PG is a plus.
  • Possesses 10+ years of experience as a “hunter” focused salesperson selling in a related distribution-oriented industry with experience leading a sales team.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, capable of taking ownership of issues/projects in order to drive all aspects of revenue generation.
  • Previous experience growing a business between $25-$50 million in revenue.
  • Strong technical, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Dynamic, motivated, and results-oriented creative thinker and problem-solver, willing to work hands-on as needed in a team-oriented environment.
  • A leader who is readily accepted by the Remediation & Consulting leaders, his/her peers, business partners as well as the client base.
  • A good planner who is able to balance gaining new and servicing existing customers across a diverse physical geography that involves travel 50% of the time.
  • Ability to accurately forecast bookings and revenue and manage business pipelines.
  • Have excellent negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce.com.
