POSITION PURPOSE
This position is responsible for providing oversight and direction of the manufacturing and distribution plants in Arkansas and Indiana. The incumbent must be able to align business objectives and manage the activities of multiple operational departments with the overall goals and strategy of the company.
The position interacts with all departments within the company including all responsible Operations Departments (Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance and Administration), Procurement, Supply Management, Logistics, Transportation, Site Quality, Research and Development, Human Resources, Sales & Marketing, M.I.S., Finance, as well as, other (New York, UK and Germany) and all external suppliers and business partners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
  • Ensures that the Operations Leadership Team is focused on their respective roles and department interdependencies. Motivates/manages the team to peak performance.
  • Responsible for the plant safety process. Safety Advisory Board Chair.
  • Ensures that the plant’s equipment, processes and products meet or exceed cGMP, manufacturing standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Manages the plant audit process for customer and/or regulatory agency visits. Co-manages the quality systems process with Site QA Director(s). Quality System Review Committee Co-chair.
  • Responsible for Plant Customer Service KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
  • Responsible for the overall Operations budget. Reviews plant and individual department results on a monthly basis, following up on specific item outliers or trends.
  • Establishes and manages the human capital strategy for the Operations division. Formulates necessary organizational changes to improve manufacturing efficiencies and processes.
  • Identifies, recommends and integrates new technology, manufacturing innovations, and new products that support the strategic goals of the business.
  • Applies state-of-art knowledge and industry practices to develop new approaches to improving equipment, processes, and products.
  • Uses internal resources judiciously, challenges members of the Operations division to quickly identify improvements and to work together to achieve them creatively, efficiently and cost effectively.
  • Develops and manages the Productivity Improvement Program for Operations.
  • Responsible for approval of all specifications to ensure compliance and best practices are followed.
Education/ Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Master’s degree preferred
Required Knowledge
  • Individual must be able to motivate employees and demonstrate superior management skills (i.e., business knowledge, leadership, communications, ability to analyze technical issues, conflict resolution). Thorough knowledge of cGMPs and all regulatory requirements are required, along with sound technical expertise in manufacturing, packaging, maintenance, engineering and supply chain management.
Experience Required
  • Fifteen years of experience in Pharmaceutical, Food, OTC and/or Personal Care operations management, including manufacturing, technical services, and supply management positions in a FDA/ISO/EPA regulated environment.
Skills/ Abilities
  • Strong understanding of World Class Manufacturing concepts and how to apply these concepts in the industry to create products
