Lucas Group has partnered with a reputable, high-end real estate developer on their search for a VP Associate General Counsel. This is a newly created role due to rapid growth and will act as a leader to a well established legal team. Reporting to a Chief Legal Officer, the VP Associate General Counsel will oversee a team of six, help prioritize projects, answer any questions, and offer guidance. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in Real Estate transactions, either with a law firm or in-house legal department, have a JD, be licensed to practice law in the state of Texas, and be a hands-on leader.
Job Duties:
• Provide legal advice related to all types of land acquisitions involving the Company
• Assess and advice on risk tolerance and mitigation strategies in real estate transactions
• Draft, review, and negotiate land acquisition and other contracts that meet the Company's risk tolerance and other standards
• Perform due diligence on land acquisitions and prepare any necessary documents related to land acquisitions
• Review, revise, and negotiate contracts and other documents related to real estate and other transactions
• Lead and oversee corporate legal process, including entity management for affiliates of the organization
• Advise assigned business units on legal risk and compliance for their initiatives
• Oversee management of litigated and disputed matters
• Monitor legal developments that affect the Company's business
• Must be able to work within short deadlines as necessary
• Other duties as assigned
