Our client is a Chicago-based food company with a portfolio of well-known brands. As they continue to grow & expand operations, they continue their partnership with us in the search for their next Director of Procurement that will sit here at their headquarters in Chicago. (This position will be based in the Loop and easily accessible from CTA and/or both Metra Stations).
The Director will be responsible for the procurement of material consumed through a bill of materials, suppliers and indirect materials and services across a network of both owned and co-pack manufacturing facilities. He/She will be directly responsible for procuring, tracking and reporting contract and commodity positions for secondary materials and key packaging substrates
Requirements:
- Four-year college degree required
- 5+ years of experience as an accomplished procurement professional, or relevant materials management experience, and a demonstrated record of success in reengineering and upgrading procurement processes and programs.
- Experience purchasing agricultural/food & packaging commodities and fully versed in all aspects of contracting and conversion
- Experience partnering with contract manufacturers is ideal
- A strong working knowledge of supply chain, vendor, and supplier management.
- Working knowledge of strategic sourcing techniques, and a commitment to continuous improvement methodologies and principles.
- Strong analytical, financial, and process management skills, and ability to drive supply chain functions forward while effectively implementing significant process change initiatives.
- Strong negotiating skills, a good working knowledge of current best practices regarding procurement techniques, excellent business instincts and judgment.
