Lucas Group has partnered with our client, the largest almond processing and marketing company in the world, on their search for a Transportation Manager in Sacramento CA. What You Will Do:

  • Manage multiple functions related to shipping and distribution of product. 
  • Oversee daily functions of Transportation Planners, Freight Analyst, Supply Chain Analyst, and Third-Party Transportation partners who will execute the tendering of loads to the carrier base; build relationships with both external (carriers) and internal customers
  • Lead the transportation team of inbound and outbound planners to ensure daily load tendering and planning of intra company / customer shipments are completed; lead international shipping operations
  • Manage freight analytic activities to ensure daily goals and KPIs are met
  • Monitor and maintain adequate trailer pool levels
  • Drive and execute continuous improvements initiatives
  • Engages in daily pro-active communication with essential internal and external customers and 3rd parties.
  • Assist in managing carrier lanes by communicating carrier performance with manager and business lead
  • Aligns distribution operations load-readiness and carrier base service performance expectations to meet customer’s needs.
  • Manage and maintain spreadsheets/reports; support claims process; navigates through SAP

 

Skills Needed:

  • 7 years supply chain management, freight management, and/or international shipping, including import/export experience
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel & Word)
  • SAP/ERP experience
  • People management experience strongly preferred
  • Willing to work flexible schedule times
  • Familiar with motor carrier transportation (traffic center management preferred)

 

Educational & Work Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • 10% travel required
