We are seeking an experienced Transact Platform Product Owner to take end-to-end ownership of a business-critical core banking platform within a complex financial services environment.
This role combines technical platform ownership, product strategy, operational governance and engineering leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the platform remains stable, resilient, secure and fit for purpose, while driving continuous improvement across engineering practices, technical controls and deployment processes.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary technology teams to establish clear priorities, manage technical risks and ensure that platform changes are delivered through controlled, repeatable and increasingly automated processes.
This is an opportunity for a technically strong leader who understands the operational realities of running a complex production platform and can balance business delivery with long-term platform sustainability.
Platform Ownership & Strategy
Take end-to-end ownership of the Transact platform, including stability, resilience, supportability and ongoing evolution.
Develop and maintain a clear platform roadmap aligned with business priorities and technology strategy.
Prioritise platform improvements, technical debt, lifecycle management and resilience requirements alongside business change.
Maintain oversight of platform capacity, performance, vulnerabilities and emerging technology risks.
Technical Leadership
Provide direction to multidisciplinary engineering teams responsible for the development, maintenance and operation of the platform.
Work across application, middleware, database, operating system and infrastructure teams to ensure effective end-to-end ownership.
Challenge technical proposals, establish engineering standards and drive accountability for delivery and operational outcomes.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce manual intervention and strengthen engineering capability.
Operational Excellence & Risk Management
Maintain strong operational and technology controls across the platform.
Use monitoring and observability tools to assess platform health, identify performance issues and anticipate emerging risks.
Drive effective incident and problem management, ensuring recurring issues are investigated and resolved at root cause.
Oversee production readiness, change management, release quality and operational acceptance.
Proactively identify resilience, capacity, obsolescence and single-point-of-failure risks, ensuring appropriate remediation plans are in place.
Build, Release & Deployment Governance
Own the build, packaging and deployment lifecycle for Transact changes across development, testing and production environments.
Ensure application code, Java components and configuration packages follow consistent, controlled and repeatable deployment processes.
Improve automation across build, release and deployment activities to reduce risk and manual effort.
Maintain traceability across package contents, versions, approvals, testing outcomes and deployment status.
Ensure appropriate governance around release sequencing, dependencies, environment promotion, rollback and production readiness.
Work with engineering, testing and service teams to improve deployment reliability and resolve recurring build and release issues.
Stakeholder & Team Management
Translate complex technical issues into clear business impacts, risks, priorities and recommended actions.
Communicate platform health, delivery progress and emerging risks to technology and business stakeholders.
Challenge assumptions constructively and ensure internal teams and technology partners are accountable for outcomes.
Balance immediate delivery commitments with the investment required to maintain a resilient and sustainable platform.
10+ years' experience working with Temenos Transact, with substantial knowledge of the platform and its operational environment.
Strong understanding of the Transact technology ecosystem, including JBoss, Linux, Oracle and Java.
Experience operating and maintaining complex, high-availability, business-critical technology platforms.
Strong knowledge of production support, incident management, problem management, change and release management, capacity planning and resilience.
Hands-on understanding of software build, package management, environment promotion and production deployment processes.
Experience improving and automating build and deployment pipelines and associated controls.
Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk and Wily.
Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering or technology teams across multiple technical domains.
Ability to assess technical risks, challenge engineering decisions and translate complex issues into business-focused outcomes.
Strong stakeholder management, communication and decision-making skills.
The ideal candidate will combine deep technical credibility with a proactive, ownership-driven approach. You will be comfortable moving between strategic roadmap discussions and detailed technical conversations, while maintaining a clear view of platform health, delivery priorities and operational risk.
You will anticipate issues rather than simply react to them, drive permanent solutions to recurring problems and continually look for opportunities to improve reliability, automation and engineering discipline.
The key objective is to ensure the Transact platform is well governed, resilient and under control today, while being continually improved for the future.
