The Storage Migration SME will lead and execute complex data migration projects from legacy storage systems to Pure Storage platforms. This role requires deep technical expertise in Pure Storage solutions, migration methodologies, and enterprise storage environments. The SME will act as a trusted advisor, ensuring seamless migrations with minimal downtime and zero data loss.

Key Responsibilities

  • Migration Strategy & Planning
    • Design and implement end-to-end migration strategies for block, file (NAS), and object storage.
    • Develop migration runbooks, timelines, and risk mitigation plans.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to align migration plans with business objectives.
  • Technical Execution
    • Perform migrations using Pure Storage tools (e.g., Cirrus Data appliances, VPLEX) and VMware Storage vMotion for virtual environments.
    • Ensure namespace consistency during NAS migrations and manage backup migrations via Commvault or similar tools.
    • Validate data integrity and performance post-migration.
  • Governance & Documentation
    • Maintain detailed documentation of migration processes, including architecture diagrams and operational procedures.
    • Provide knowledge transfer and training to internal teams.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Act as the SME for Pure Storage migrations, advising on best practices and technical solutions.
    • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Technical Expertise
    • Proven experience with Pure Storage FlashArray and Evergreen solutions.
    • Hands-on experience in SAN/NAS migrations, VMware environments, and storage replication technologies.
    • Strong knowledge of protocols (NFS, SMB/CIFS), file permissions, and authentication mechanisms.
