Our client is a non-profit organization comprised of tens of thousands of outdoor enthusiasts. Founded in the great state of Texas,  they has grown incredibly to a national organization. 

Accountant 
The Accountant is responsible for assisting with several state and National office financials and accounting, providing information, primarily financial in nature, about company activities that will assist management, the management committee, and that National organization in making educated economic decisions.
Essential Job Functions   
Performs  general  bookkeeping  functions  for  National  office  and  various  state  chapters,  as assigned.
Assists with month-end close and year-end close financial activities.

•     Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.

•     Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.

•     Assists  (occasionally)  in  the  training  of  new  state  chapter  Treasurers  on   accounting policies/procedures and software.

•     Prepares some monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for National and some  state chapters.

•     Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.

•     Assists Controller with balance sheet reconciliations and schedules.

•     Helps provide detailed inventory schedule and reconciliation.

•     Assists National and state chapters with the gathering of financial data requested by external audit firms and internal records during the annual audit process.

•     Records income and expenses for certain state chapters and National office for events including chart of accounts coding and journal entries, bank statement reconciliations and other organizational activity related to the general ledger.

•     Processes credit card payments from banquet auctions and sales.

•     Responsible for most phases of accounts receivable.

•     Makes and prepares bank deposits.

•     Ensures accurate documentation and compliance with policies, processes, and internal controls.

•     Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge

•     Demonstrates knowledge of GAAP.

•     Knowledge of accounting procedures.

•     Knowledge & experience with accounting software and administration

•     Intermediate understanding of accounting and reporting standards, gaining experience in researching as it relates to accounting issues.
