Job Description:
This role reports to the Senior Accountant, and will spearhead all accounting for a portfolio of locations. This role will be responsible for both accounting, analysis and have an emphasis on process improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Full general ledger responsibilities.
- Monthly financial statement close process.
- Establish the recurring and standard JEs for each of the hospitals for which they are responsible.
- Prepare/review and post monthly accruals & journal entries, including inter-company transactions.
- Responsible for the timely preparation, filing and ensuring payment of various monthly State Sales & Use Tax Returns.
- Assist in the preparation of State Franchise Tax Returns.
- Oversee regional Accounts Payable process to ensure timely and accurate payment of national and local vendors.
- Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts (including Accounts Receivable, Prepaid Accounts and Accruals).
- Responsible for the reconciliation of general ledger cash accounts to the bank records, ensuring timely deposits.
- Follow up on reconciling items in a timely basis to ensure financial statement accuracy.
- Provide detailed performance variance analysis to budget and prior year, and assist in budget preparation.
- Respond to inquiries regarding hospital and/or departmental financials reports by being able to run queries, etc. using Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains and Prophix.
- Prepare monthly GAAP-based financial statements in accordance with Lender Compliance requirements.
- Prepare and maintain key performance metrics.
- Assist in preparation of various reports for Senior Management and Board of Directors.
- Assist in preparation of audit schedules as required by the external auditors.
- Develop and organize supporting work papers for both the auditors and company records.
Requirements:
- Accounting degree
- CPA or eligble
- Multi-location accounting experience is highly desirable
- Experience with Great Plains is highly preferred, as is experience with a reporting system such as Prophix or Hyperion.
