We have partnered with our client in their search for a Java / Spring Boot Back-end Engineer to join a team supporting a large-scale, consumer-facing digital platform. This is a hands-on back-end engineering role focused on Java, Spring Boot, automated testing, component design, and AWS infrastructure. The engineer will help design and build new functionality while owning solutions across development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain secure, high-quality Java and Spring Boot back-end applications and services.
- Own end-to-end component design, translating technical requirements into scaled software solutions and production-quality code.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive automated testing, including unit, component, contract, end-to-end, acceptance, and performance testing.
- Work with AWS infrastructure and participate in provisioning and supporting development and test environments.
- Produce application architecture and design artifacts while ensuring software meets established design constraints.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, identify underlying problems, and drive improvements in code quality and system architecture.
- Participate in CI/CD, application resiliency, security, and Agile software development practices.
- Leverage AI development tools to improve engineering productivity while maintaining strong software engineering and testing fundamentals.
- Collaborate effectively across engineering, product, infrastructure, and other cross-functional teams.
Skills Required
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot back-end development.
- 3+ years of automated testing experience with strong knowledge of testing methodologies and frameworks.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end component design and back-end application architecture.
- Experience working with AWS infrastructure in a software engineering environment.
- Experience incorporating AI development tools into software engineering workflows.
- Familiarity with testing tools/frameworks such as Cucumber, Karate, and BlazeMeter is beneficial.
- Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code experience is a plus. [
Education & Work Experience
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of applied software engineering experience, with a strong focus on back-end Java development.
- Experience across the Software Development Life Cycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and application support.
