The role:
This is a great opportunity to join the front office technology team at one of largest integrated energy and commodity trading companies in the world.
We are looking for a hands-on senior technologist with experience in the Power & Gas Commodity markets of North America. You will work on full stack solutions to support Trading, Middle Office and Risk users across the business and must be passionate about technology with experience developing enterprise-wide solutions. You will report into the Head of Trading Technology working on a multi-year program of work developing best of breed propriety solutions. As the team representative in North America, it will be your responsibility to take the lead and build a strong relationship with the business, including Trading Desk Heads and CIO of North America, to ensure solutions meet architectural and engineering best practices and integrate seamlessly into our wider strategic landscape.
Key responsibilities
· Hands on development role with local lead responsibilities, working closely with business users to understand processes and capture requirements
· Constantly looking to challenge status-quo, bringing your own ideas and strive for improvement
· Acquiring business knowledge and system knowledge to further individual development
Technical expertise
· Power & Gas Commodities background
· 7+ years’ experience developing enterprise applications with strong C# & SQL/relational database knowledge
· Full stack development using modern web frameworks such as React
· Real time messaging as well as service oriented technologies
· Modern DevOps best practices such as automation, CI/CD, Orchestration & Observability
· Cloud exposure (ideally AWS or Azure) and understanding of how it can be utilized in a hybrid environment
Non-technical Skills
· Fluent English with good communication and organizational skills
· Passion for technology and innovation
· Self-motivated and ability to work under pressure
· Analytical and critical thinking with ability to problem solve complex issues
