Our client is a company that manufactures essential connecting parts for equipment & transmissions and we are partnering with them on a (Manufacturing/Production) Site Leader role for their HQ in the Chicago suburbs. Our client is an industry leader and part of a multi-billion dollar family of companies. This role is open due to an internal promotion as we are seeking someone to lead this location with the opportunity for future career advancement.

The Site Leader is responsible for all production and employee activities. This person will manage all day-to-day operations to meet production goals, drive improvements throughout the plant using Lean Manufacturing, ensure the site is aligned with the corporate vision, develop & empower the site staff, and remain in compliance with all corporate & government regulations.

Manufacturing Site Leader Essential Responsibilities

  • Establish a safe work environment and ensure that associates are properly trained in all safety requirements. Ensure compliance to OSHA standards.
  • Lead the improvement of the site’s quality systems and enforce strict adherence to approved procedures and policies
  • Establish a Lean management and operations. Create/monitor the necessary production performance measures (controls) in order to provide: Verification of capable processes; In process and outgoing quality levels; Cost competitive, lean production structure where continuous improvement is a daily focus; Capacity to flexibly and efficiently meet market demand movements
  • Manage maintenance and the capital budget
  • Drive and measure/monitor inventory performance such that business needs are met with minimal working capital resources including: Supplier lead-times & delivery windows; Supplier quality results; Supplier agreement terms and conditions; Inventory accuracy
  • Comply with all applicable Corporate and Governmental regulations and requirements including but not limited to SOX, environmental reporting, wage and hour regulations etc.
  • Develop a strong manufacturing team and empower employees to achieve higher level roles within the site
  • Responsibility for participating in manufacturing footprint strategies

Manufacturing Site Leader Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree or equivalent work & education experience required. Any advanced degree or certifications are preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience leading a manufacturing site.
  • Must have demonstrated success with leading 5S, Kaizen, Lean, or related manufacturing process improvements or projects.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or 5S certifications are preferred.
  • Cost analysis knowledge and understanding of key features which effect cost, basic understanding of operations accounting
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a change agent
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse and cross functional work groups
  • Combination of strong academic and practical experience with Lean manufacturing
  • Demonstrated record of producing results, able to challenge and change performance
