Our client is a highly successful Exploration and Production Operator with properties located in the Gulf of Mexico.  This high profile position will work with the Director of Operational Accounting to meet the goals and objectives of the department  Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing  high-volume Capex accruals; including generating schedules, conducting review meetings with Engineers/Operations, writing commentary, and presenting results to leadership
  • Review AFE spend to identify anomalies and work with Operations to determine any needed re-class
  • Responsible for accounting processes for drilling company; work with drilling services provider, record various operational accounting entries to support financial reporting
  • Respond to audit requests i.e. internal, external, and SOX
  • Manage relationships with boat and fuel vendors, including entering invoices in payables system, and acting as primary accounting contact
  • Prepare boat loop allocations and prepare entries in OGsys accounting system
  • Prepare cash application entries for recurring transactions
  • Record manual cash entries for operational accounting transactions and assist with formal bank reconciliations
  • Support month-end close and new initiatives

Success in this role will require a strong attention to detail, follow through on deliverable's to ensure deadlines are meet, a strong sense of ownership and exceptional communications with all levels of the organization as well as externally.  Qualifications include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, advanced degree a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of directly related relevant work experience required
  • Upstream accounting experience strongly preferred, with offshore a plus
  • Active CPA license and recent public accounting experience preferred
  • Comfortable communicating with all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional attendance, deadline driven, extreme attention to detail and strong sense of urgency
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
