The Senior Project Manager - Rail/Transit is a rail industry veteran with a proven track record for leading the design, development and implementation of rail/transit ITS projects. A dynamic leader, with excellent communications, interpersonal skills, acknowledged industry experience, this individual is responsible for the successful execution of all project tasks; financial, applicable technology and schedule performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of assigned rail/transit ITS projects, including development of and monitoring the project plan, organization, implementation of project activities, issue tracking and risk mitigation, facilitating project team meetings and preparing/delivering status reports
- Assemble and direct a cross functional team from multiple departments (Deployment, Engineering Design, Installation, and Field Service) to ensure successful execution of projects
- As the Primary point of contact, established a solid working relationship with the customer and all stakeholders
- Establish milestones, coordinate and perform review of the project deliverables, software and hardware, and report on project performance
- Manage and plan with the Systems Engineering and Product/Engineering team leads for technical review of system design and documentation with the customer
- Provide and manage overall project communication to stakeholders
- Able to perform basic hardware and software hands-on work.
- Manages financial schedule performance of assigned projects
- Maintains and keeps to schedule of assigned projects and communicates schedule changes as necessary
- Manages full life-cycle of project and ensures each aspect of the project is completed
- Manages procurement of equipment and materials necessary to execute on projects
- Develops subcontractors scopes of work, executes subcontracts and manages subcontractors as may be necessary
- Coordinates with Sales and Account Managers to further sales opportunities
- May coordinate proposal preparation, including standards of work and specifications, estimation of product and service costs.
- May participate in negotiation and administration of contracts
- Travel required for onsite at customers facility 40% of the time.
- Adheres to company processes and policies.
Skills Required:
- 10+ years' experience as a Project Manager in a technical or engineering environment with a focus on development and delivery of rail system projects
- B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related field, MBA or equivalent advanced degree desirable.
- PMP or equivalent certification, or more than 6 years Project Management Experience
- 3+ years North America rail transit industry system delivery /implementation experience is required.
- Strong experience working with the FTA, FRA, IEEE, ANSI and other Light and Heavy Rail standards
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, VISIO) as well as ability to learn new software programs such as Microsoft Dynamics AX
- Strong team building and leadership skills to facilitate direction of a cross functional team
- Strong problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and time management skills to handle simultaneous tasks
- Strong verbal and written communications, presentation and persuasive skills
- Strong negotiation and influence skills
- Ability to travel up to 40%
