Contract
San Francisco, California, USA
80 - 90 per hour (USD)

A global media company is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the product definition, requirements organization, and documentation lifecycle for its Addressable Order Management System (OMS). In this role, you will serve as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and the Product Solutions team to configure the third‑party platform Operative. One - driving clarity, alignment, and precision in how the addressable advertising business translates operational needs into functional system requirements.

This is a high‑impact, cross‑functional role requiring deep understanding of digital advertising workflows, order management, and the nuances of operating within a large, matrixed media organization. You will own the functional requirements backlog end‑to‑end: gathering, structuring, documenting, and communicating requirements to both internal stakeholders and Operative. One's product and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Requirements Definition & Documentation

  • Serve as the primary owner of functional requirements for the Addressable OMS, translating business needs into detailed, actionable specifications for Operative. One and internal engineering teams.
  • Author, maintain, and continuously improve comprehensive functional requirements documents (FRDs), user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, and process flow diagrams.
  • Develop and manage a structured requirements repository, ensuring traceability from business objectives through system specifications to implementation and testing.
  • Establish and enforce documentation standards to ensure consistency, clarity, and completeness of all requirements artifacts across the OMS product domain.
  • Develop deep expertise in the Operative. One platform - including capabilities, roadmap, configuration options, APIs, and integration architecture - to effectively contextualize and scope requirements.
  • Identify gaps between Operative. One's standard capabilities and the organization's business requirements; define and document custom configuration or integration needs accordingly.

Stakeholder Engagement & Cross‑Functional Alignment

  • Conduct structured discovery sessions with Ad Sales, Ad Operations, Finance, Legal, and Technology stakeholders to elicit and validate business requirements.
  • Facilitate requirements review sessions, gaining sign‑off from business owners, technical leads, and Product Solutions partners prior to development.
  • Manage competing priorities and resolve requirements conflicts across stakeholder groups with clarity, data, and sound business judgment.

Product Lifecycle & Backlog Management

  • Maintain a well‑groomed, prioritized product backlog for the Addressable OMS, aligned to business value and the strategic roadmap.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for OMS efficiency, adoption, and data quality; use insights to inform future requirements and prioritization.
  • Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint review ceremonies as an active participant within Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), including development of test scenarios and scripts derived directly from approved functional requirements.

Process Improvement & Governance

  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture and Data teams to ensure requirements support downstream data integrity, reporting accuracy, and system interoperability.

Skills Required

  • 6+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years focused on advertising technology, order management systems, or media operations platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring detailed functional requirements documents, user stories, process flows, and system specifications in complex enterprise environments.
  • Prior experience working with or managing a third‑party SaaS advertising platform (e.g., Operative. One, FatTail, Salesforce Media Cloud, WideOrbit, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of the end‑to‑end advertising order lifecycle: proposal, negotiation, booking, trafficking, delivery, billing, and reconciliation.
  • Proven ability to facilitate cross‑functional requirements workshops and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks; proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or equivalent.

Preferred Skills

  • Direct experience with the Operative. One platform in a product management, business analyst, or systems administration capacity.
  • Familiarity with addressable, programmatic, or audience‑targeted advertising workflows in streaming or multiplatform environments.
  • Experience supporting API integrations between order management systems and adjacent platforms (ad servers, finance systems, CRM, data warehouses).
  • Knowledge of ad tech ecosystem components including DSPs, SSPs, ad servers, DAI (Dynamic Ad Insertion), and audience targeting platforms.
  • Exposure to data governance principles and documentation for reporting and analytics use cases.

Education & Work Experience

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related field
