Title: Senior Manager, People and Administration

Location:  Los Angeles, CA

Lucas Group is exclusively representing an esteemed professional services client in downtown Los Angeles for their Senior Manager, People and Administration position. This role will report to senior leadership and is responsible for the HR operation of the firm. Solid tenure in a professional services firm, bachelor's degree and proven HR success.
Focus is on enhancing the HR processes, execute on deliverable and take ownership of the following functional areas: policy implementation, employment compliance, health and welfare, employee relations, recruiting, engagement, payroll and office/facility management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Implement and administer company policy guidelines and documentation.
  • Manage HR programs, practices and procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor payroll and benefits administrator.
  • Partnering with external vendors on delivery of HR services such as benefits and 401k.
  • Acts as main point of contact for any internal and external audits regarding HR processes, ensuring compliance standards.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including diligently enforcing policies in a manner consistent with current employment and labor laws.
  • Develop and deliver employee and manager process tools and trainings.
  • Proactively address employee relations issues.
  • Encourage and manage engagement initiatives.
  • Oversee office services and administrative operations for best practices and efficiencies.
  • Supervise and mentor office services manager and reception.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to effectively lead HR programs and projects.
  • Strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs.
  • Ability to leverage communication and interpersonal skills to successfully establish and maintain professional relationships and work effectively with all levels of management.
  • Deep understanding of HR and working knowledge of employment and federal/ state labor laws. Multi-state CA, MA, NV.
  • Sound understanding of principles and best practices of office administration.
  • Ability to operate autonomously with varied projects, deadlines and priorities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Client-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion, with ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with regulatory audits on employment, benefits, retirement plan and related matters preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Strong strategic problem solving; ability to research, consolidate data and formulate observations/recommendations.
  • High degree of initiative, independent judgment, and discretion

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 3 plus years of professional experience with demonstrated success in key responsibilities for this role or 5 plus years of demonstrated HR experience.
  • 2-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus but not required.
