Senior Interim Recruiter
Life Insurance, Annuities and Reinsurance - Accounting Finance and IT
Confidential Korn Ferry Contract Opportunity
About the Client
Our client is a specialized North American life insurance and reinsurance organization providing in-force, reinsurance, capital, risk-management, and operational solutions to the life insurance industry. The organization acquires and manages in-force life insurance and annuity portfolios, helping insurance carriers improve capital efficiency, transfer risk, reduce operational complexity, and pursue strategic growth.
The company also supports new-business initiatives and primary insurance products. Its broader capabilities encompass M&A and reinsurance transactions, policy administration, operations management, and capital and risk management.
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced corporate Talent Acquisition professional to provide immediate recruiting capacity during a period of business growth and increased M&A and transaction activity.
Working as an extension of a lean internal Talent Acquisition team, the consultant will independently manage a portfolio of accounting, finance, and technology requisitions. This individual will own approximately 75 percent of the recruiting lifecycle, including intake, recruiting strategy, sourcing, screening, candidate assessment, candidate presentation, and interview coordination. Offer negotiation and final-stage activity will transition to internal recruiting leadership.
This position requires a recruiter who already possesses strong, detailed knowledge of the life insurance, annuity, and life reinsurance industry. The selected consultant must understand the client's business model and talent landscape sufficiently to evaluate accounting, finance, and functional IT candidates with credibility and minimal ramp-up time.
Strict Industry Requirement
Direct recruiting experience within life insurance, annuities, and/or life reinsurance is required.
General insurance recruiting experience alone will not satisfy this requirement. Candidates whose insurance backgrounds are limited to property and casualty, health insurance, pet insurance, captive insurance, title insurance, insurance brokerage, employee benefits, or other unrelated insurance sectors will not meet the mandate.
Candidates must also demonstrate that they have personally recruited both:
- Accounting and finance professionals within a life insurance, annuity, or life reinsurance organization
- Functional technology and IT professionals within a life insurance, annuity, or life reinsurance organization
Experience recruiting A&F in one industry and IT in an unrelated industry will not independently satisfy the requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead recruiting activity for accounting, finance, and functional technology positions within a life insurance, annuity, and reinsurance environment.
- Conduct intake meetings with hiring managers and translate business needs, technical requirements, and role priorities into practical recruiting strategies.
- Source, screen, and assess candidates across professional-level accounting, finance, and IT positions.
- Evaluate candidates' experience against the specialized requirements of life insurance and reinsurance functions.
- Independently manage concurrent requisitions, maintain accurate candidate pipelines, and protect ATS data integrity throughout each search.
- Guide candidates through the interview process, maintain consistent communication, coordinate next steps, and drive timely hiring-manager feedback.
- Present qualified candidates and provide relevant talent-market insight to hiring stakeholders.
- Build trusted partnerships with VPs, AVPs, and other senior hiring leaders.
- Transition selected candidates to internal recruiting leadership for offer negotiation and final-stage activity.
- Support recruiting-process documentation, best practices, and the continued scaling of hiring operations.
Required Qualifications
- Direct corporate recruiting experience within life insurance, annuities, and/or life reinsurance.
- Demonstrated success recruiting accounting and finance professionals within those specialized insurance environments.
- Demonstrated success recruiting functional technology and IT professionals within those specialized insurance environments.
- Working knowledge of the life insurance and reinsurance business, including areas such as:
- In-force life insurance and annuity portfolios
- Closed-block and runoff operations
- Life reinsurance transactions
- Policy administration and insurance operations
- Capital and risk management
- Insurance M&A and portfolio transactions
- Strong understanding of accounting and finance functions, with the ability to evaluate candidates' technical backgrounds, responsibilities, and terminology.
- Sufficient understanding of functional IT disciplines to assess candidates supporting applications, policy-administration platforms, infrastructure, data, cybersecurity, engineering, and related technology functions.
- Corporate or in-house recruiting experience supporting internal hiring teams. Candidates whose experience is exclusively agency-based will not meet the requirement.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent requisitions and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven stakeholder-management experience with mid-level through senior leaders, including VPs and AVPs.
- Hands-on experience using an ATS to manage recruiting workflows, candidate pipelines, communications, and data integrity (Cornerstone ATS ideal).
- Strong organization, judgment, communication, and follow-through in a remote working environment.
