Title: Senior HR Manager
Reports to: VP,HR
Direct Reports: 0
Location: 100% remote right now, but eventually back to Corporate in the Western Suburbs of Chicago (would consider 100% REMOTE for the perfect candidate)
Purpose of Role:
HR is being transformed from more of a tactical function into true Business Partners. They do run lean, but there is a HR Generalist who will handle more of the tactical day to day work involved with this position, and this role will function at the very highest level of strategic work in regards to coaching, giving direction to leadership on best practices of HR, etc. They are looking for someone capable of functioning at that high level without being afraid to also get into the weeds. Although they are lean, they do have support from the COE’s at their Holding Company for things like Benefits, Talent, Compensation, Systems, and Learning.
They have roughly 2800 employees globally, 700 of which are in the US. This business unit has 16 facilities across the country that you will support with anywhere from 15-50 employees at each site, so a total population between 360-500 employees. On top of the field support, each Sr. HRM also supports an Executive Leader within a functional area at corporate (Engineering, Technology, EH&S etc.).
Travel will be expected post-COVID – they believe in building relationships face to face. An ivory tower leader will not work here. They want someone who understands engagement and is passionate about getting in front of their people. The role is mostly remote, but eventually, they will be back in their office (they will be flexible with a blended WFH schedule, but it will not be 100% remote). They do not have plans to go back into the office until at best June.
Each role will support the VP, Ops for their region, 1 or 2 other VPs on the Corporate side, and partner heavily with the GMs at the sites. There is a lot of interaction with the GMs on employee issues, structure issues, etc. They are a non-union population.
The successful candidate will be someone very self-driven, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and someone who is accountable and can make decisions with little to no input. From a strategic HR standpoint, someone strong in succession planning, leadership development, change management, and experience with multi-site/multi-state.
