The Financial Reporting Accountant will have solid accounting and business acumen along with strong work ethic for month and quarterly reporting deadlines. This role requires collaboration with individuals in various offices; requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills. Viable candidates will need to be a self-starter who can work independently.
Responsibilities
· Responsible for month-end close tasks including posting of journal entries, variance and trending analysis and preparation of monthly results reports
· Preparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
· Support the Corporate Head Office with internal and external financial reporting requirements.
· Perform account analysis and research with ad-hoc projects as required.
· Assist with the research and documentation of IFRS technical accounting issues
· Support internal control compliance
· Preparation of statutory financial statements
· Assist internal and external auditors with documentation requests
· Liaise with other teams including Asset Teams and Planning & Performance Management
Qualifications
· The legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer
· Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting
· 4+ years of experience working in Financial Accounting or Auditing
· Certified Public Accountant or has passed at least 1 of 4 sections
· Advanced in Microsoft Excel and Power Point
Key Competencies/Preferred Qualifications
· Public accounting experience preferred
· Experience with design, testing and implementation of internal controls
· Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) a plus
· Familiarity with SAP a plus
· Accounting experience within the energy sector preferred
· Strong writing, verbal and analytical skills
· Detail oriented with the ability to learn quickly
· Spanish language a plus
