The Senior Director of Transportation Operations is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations including Dispatch, Planning, Routing and Carriers. This position is also responsible for the oversight of Key Process Measures (KPMs) for equipment (asset) utilization, asset maintenance, shop personnel, yard and shuttle personnel, fleet safety and compliance and rail departments. This position will provide strategic direction and support to fully service our customers, establish and maintain KPMs and develop a productive work environment with clear and precise guidelines and standard operating procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Partner with the executive and senior leadership throughout the organization to design and develop operational strategy that supports the organizational business needs and goals; drive the implementation of that strategy.
- Identify and implement industry best practices to support organizational direction.
- Provide strategic direction for and oversight of the day-to-day activities of equipment (asset) purchasing, asset maintenance, shop personnel, yard and shuttle personnel, fleet safety and compliance and rail departments, as well as dispatch, planning and routing; provide guidance and direction to ensure teams are meeting KPMs.
- Oversee to ensure all employees in the department adhere to creating a safe and ergonomic workplace by following all corporate safety guidelines and protocol.
- Monitor and oversee labor, materials and overhead expenses for all departments to identify trends and develop improvement plans to increase productivity, profitability, on time performance and employee morale.
- Oversee to ensure the maintenance of corporate disciplines, company policies and procedures to create a productive, organized, clean and safe environment.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Transportation or related field or equivalent work experience, Required.
Experience:
- 12+ years of Transportation/Logistics experience, Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of Department of Transportation Regulations
- Strong knowledge of Fleet Maintenance Industry Standards
