We have partnered with our client in their search for a Senior Regulatory Counsel.
Responsibilities
- Represent the company in regulatory proceedings, including hearings before administrative law judges, with responsibility for defending company witnesses and cross-examining witnesses for other parties
- Prepare briefs, motions, comments, affidavits, pleadings, memos, and other legal documents related to assigned regulatory matters
- Advise business stakeholders on complex regulatory issues and develop practical legal solutions that balance compliance, risk management, and business priorities
Skills Required
- Strong regulatory legal experience, ideally within a public utilities company, energy company, or another highly regulated industry
- Experience appearing before or supporting matters before regulatory agencies, preferably the California Public Utilities Commission
- Excellent legal drafting, strategic counseling, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Education & Work Experience
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.); member in good standing with the California Bar or eligible for certification to practice in California
- Approximately 8+ years of relevant legal experience, with in-house and/or law firm experience handling regulatory proceedings, hearings, and complex compliance matters
