Senior Business Analyst - Financials & Core Operations (SIS Replacement)

Location: Remote/Hybrid

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support a large-scale Student Information System (SIS) Replacement initiative. This role will lead business analysis efforts for the Student Accounts & Financials workstream, partnering closely with Finance, Registrar, and project stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and deliver comprehensive functional documentation that supports successful implementation.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized and independent Business Analyst with strong requirements gathering, stakeholder facilitation, and documentation experience. This individual will serve as a trusted partner to business and technical teams, ensuring operational needs are accurately captured and translated into actionable requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead business analysis activities for the Student Accounts & Financials workstream
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions, workshops, and stakeholder meetings
  • Partner with Finance and Registrar teams to understand current-state processes and define future-state solutions
  • Document business, functional, and process requirements
  • Create and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), process flows, and supporting artifacts
  • Analyze business processes, identify gaps, and recommend improvements
  • Track requirements, action items, decisions, and project dependencies
  • Collaborate with project managers, SMEs, and technical teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Support testing, validation, and implementation activities as needed
  • Ensure documentation quality, completeness, and alignment with project objectives

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Business Analysis experience supporting large-scale technology initiatives
  • Strong experience creating Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and functional requirements
  • Proven ability to facilitate stakeholder meetings and requirements workshops
  • Experience analyzing and documenting complex business processes
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Experience collaborating with both business and technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Student Information System (SIS) experience
  • Higher Education industry experience
  • Student Accounts, Billing, Finance, Registrar, or Student Services experience
  • ERP implementation, migration, or modernization project experience
  • Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart, or similar tools
  • CBAP or other Business Analysis certifications

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and requirements sessions
  • Document and refine business and functional requirements
  • Create process maps and gap analyses
  • Partner with Finance and Registrar teams to resolve business questions
  • Maintain action items, decision logs, and requirements traceability
  • Participate in project meetings and provide status updates
