We have partnered with our client in their search for a Senior Accountant - AR, Grant Management, Audits (Contract-To-Hire).

Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Accountant owns the organization's day-to-day Accounts Receivable (AR) function, including high-volume receivables processing, grant invoicing, cash applications, aging analysis, deferred revenue tracking, grant-related receivables, reconciliations, and accurate revenue recognition, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies while maintaining the integrity of financial records in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.
  • Partners closely with the Controller and cross-functional stakeholders to perform month-end and year-end close activities, prepare journal entries, maintain the general ledger, reconcile revenue and balance sheet accounts, monitor AR aging, support annual audit preparation, and ensure full compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and nonprofit financial reporting requirements.

  • Supports grant-related accounting activities, deferred revenue management, tax reporting, and audit readiness while collaborating across financial systems and operational platforms to reconcile accounting and operational data, improve financial processes, and deliver accurate financial reporting under tight deadlines. Serves as a proactive, hands-on accounting resource who can quickly ramp up, communicate effectively with leadership, and thrive in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.

Skills Required:

  • Strong Accounts Receivable & Year-End Audit Expertise: Proven experience owning the full Accounts Receivable process, including grant invoicing, cash applications, aging reports, reconciliations, and supporting month-end close and year-end audit preparation in a high-volume environment.
  • Revenue Recognition, Deferred Revenue & Grant Management: Strong understanding of GAAP revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and grant-related receivables, with experience ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance across contracts and funding sources.
  • Nonprofit Accounting Experience: Previous nonprofit accounting experience with knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, audit support, Form 990 reporting, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Technical & Operational Skills: Advanced Excel skills (sorting, filtering), reconciliations, and AR reporting are required.
    • Experience using Sage Intacct, Monday.com and Experience with Grant Accounting, and Accounts Payable are preferred.

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree (Accounting or Finance preferred)
  • 4-7+ yrs of professional work experience
