RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • This role reports directly to the Accounting Services Manager of the firm
    • Successfully manage client communication and deadlines and deliver work timely and accurately to meet deadlines so that clients can make the necessary decisions needed to run their businesses
    • Maintaining & overseeing a file management system, electronically and manually (if/when necessary)
    • Providing quality, business consulting services and/or in-depth technical accounting guidance (written and verbal communication) for clients, and researching any issues to provide such guidance when warranted • Responsible for providing effective and timely communication with clients and internal management
    • Continuously monitor accounting standard changes and advise clients of them
    • Maintain existing client relationships and participate in business development efforts
    • Assist in recruiting and hiring efforts such as supervising and training new hires and current staff within the Accounting Services Department
    • Adhering to internal Company policies and procedures and enforcing such policies amongst staff

 

MUSTS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance
    • Minimum 2+ years of relevant accounting experience
    • Limited knowledge of US GAAP and an in-debt understanding of, and experience with, accounting practices including but not limited to year-end and month-end closing processes, financial statement preparation and general ledger accounting
    • Solid understanding of general ledger and accrual/cash basis accounting, as well as the accounts commonly found on the balance sheet
    • Working knowledge of cash basis and accrual basis accounting as well as conversions back-and-forth between the two methods
    • Ability to put in extra effort, as needed, to complete engagements and projects with demanding deadlines
    • Knowledge of accounting systems including but not limited to QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP and Hyperion
    • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and adaptable to change
    • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills for handling multiple client projects simultaneously
    • Ability to take the lead on tasks, work independently, efficiently, and accurately with minimal supervision
    • Very proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
    • Ability and confidence to face clients, especially in-person and through daily phone interaction
    • Is great with creating and maintaining client relationships
    • Demonstrate confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive matters and information • Comfortable communicating with people at all levels of the organization, and with a variety of personalities
    • Can quickly research unknown technical issues using various firm tools and resources
    • Can process and transpose information very quickly and accurately (i.e. possesses an above average typing speed on keyboard & 10 key)
    • Has received solid performance reviews and feedback from previous employers
    • Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Positive attitude, dependable, and reliable

 

PLUSES (NOT REQUIRED):

    • Postsecondary education (i.e. MBA, Masters in Accountancy) is always a plus, but is certainly not a requirement
    • Active CPA License or currently pursuing a CPA License
    • Working knowledge of tax accounting for individuals and a wide range of business structures including sole proprietorships, Partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, Estates and Trusts
    • Working knowledge of how to perform other (small business) accounting-related tasks, such as payroll processing, budgeting & forecasting, valuations & modeling, etc.
    • Possesses an interest in business development and growing a book of business
    • Short tenure with "Big Four" or a larger/mid-size accounting/finance firm, and heavier experience with a boutique firm providing similar services to small businesses
    • Knowledge of small business accounting and start-up accounting
    • Experience in specialized/technical areas of accounting such as mergers and acquisitions and business combinations
    • Limited working knowledge with QuickBooks, or similar accounting software for navigating and pulling reports for small businesses
