Our client, a leader in their distribution niche, seeks a self-motivated Senior Accountant to join their team in Northwest Houston. This is a newly created position due to growth.
Senior Accountant Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform and manage all month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries and reconciliations for various balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities and capital
- Prepare monthly accrual calculations with supporting documentation
- Compare actual financial performance against prior year, budget and forecasted results and provide meaningful explanations of fluctuations / discrepancies
- Develop and maintain proper accounting policies
- Continuously evaluate and improve internal controls
Experience/Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 5+ years’ relevant professional experience
- Strong computer proficiency with MS Office
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
