Interim SAP Finance Transformation Lead
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Interim SAP Finance Transformation Lead to support a large-scale global finance transformation initiative within a leading international biotechnology organization. This consultant will play a critical role in assessing and optimizing finance processes, improving SAP master data governance, and supporting the cleanup and transformation of key financial structures including general ledger, cost centers, entities, and reporting hierarchies.
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of SAP S/4HANA Finance expertise, accounting knowledge, FP&A experience, and finance transformation leadership, preferably within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated life sciences environments.
This is a remote interim engagement supporting a global Finance and Accounting organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess existing SAP Finance processes and identify opportunities for improvement and standardization
- Lead SAP S/4HANA Finance transformation initiatives focused on financial data quality, governance, and process optimization
- Support general ledger, cost center, profit center, and legal entity structure review and cleanup efforts
- Partner with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, and business stakeholders to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency
- Evaluate and optimize financial master data, chart of accounts, and organizational structures within SAP
- Develop recommendations for process improvements across financial planning, reporting, and close activities
- Support finance transformation workstreams and drive execution of approved solutions
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure alignment across finance functions and regions
- Identify risks, dependencies, and data quality issues that could impact transformation objectives
- Provide subject matter expertise for SAP Finance best practices and future-state operating models
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of Finance, Accounting, FP&A, or Finance Transformation experience
- Deep expertise with SAP S/4HANA Finance (FI/CO)
- Experience leading or supporting large-scale finance transformation initiatives
- Strong understanding of:
- General Ledger (GL)
- Cost Centers
- Profit Centers
- Legal Entity Structures
- Chart of Accounts
- Financial Reporting
- Hands-on experience assessing and improving finance processes and controls
- Ability to partner effectively with executive stakeholders, finance leaders, and cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project leadership skills
Preferred
- Biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry experience
- Experience supporting global finance organizations
- Experience with financial data governance and master data optimization initiatives
- Experience with FP&A processes and financial planning systems
- IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) experience strongly preferred
- Prior SAP S/4HANA implementation, optimization, or transformation experience
