The Safety Manager is responsible for leading, planning, developing and coordinating safety compliance and programs to control risks, prevent losses, reduce risk, and protect the personnel and assets of the company. The maintenance and execution of Federal, State and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules for a fast growing automated manufacturing plant in North Georgia.   Will develop strategic plans for continuous improvement in the company’s safety performance to include high volume manufacturing line, distribution and logistics.   Provide leadership and direct employees at all levels of the organization to achieve excellence in safety.

Role Summary Highlights:

  • Functioning as a member of the site’s leadership team, work closely with peers to build a culture of safety excellence at the site.
  • Direct and support the work of the small team of safety professionals at the site and develop a high performing team culture for the manufacturing, logistics and distribution departments.
  • Ensure continual improvement through implementation of the company safety management systems, including facilitating risk assessments, setting targets and monitoring performance. 
  • Champion and support resource conservation initiatives in cooperation with facilities and engineering.
  • Develop a strong safety culture across the site, ensuring all incidents are reported, investigated and corrective actions implemented as appropriate.
  • Prepares and submits recommendations to Senior Management, for action plans to minimize company exposure to costs associated with Worker’s Compensation.
  • Represents the Company on Safety issues which may include meeting with attorneys, state, federal regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains internal communication programs and process to ensure both management’s and organization’s awareness of compliance issues, activities and federal, state and local regulatory activities that affect technical and quality compliance

Background/Work Experience:

  • BS/MS Degree preferred and at least 5-8 years of current work experience leading safety in an automated manufacturing work environment.   Previous experience leading safety initiatives including lean desired.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations as they apply to technical operations in a regulated environment
  • Knowledge of the organization, environmental codes and the ability to identify potential loss exposure
  • Ability to influence prioritization of activities in order to maintain compliance.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstance and have the ability to thrive in a constantly changing business environment.
  • Basic PC skills (MS Office Suite, ERP experience)
