We have partnered with our client in their search for a Reinsurance Accountant with a strong audit background to join our client's finance team. This role is central to the design and execution of management reporting procedures, the delivery of accurate regulatory reports, and the overall integrity of the reinsurance finance function. You will act as a key liaison between finance, operations, and transformation stakeholders while leading a high-performing team through a period of meaningful system and process evolution.
Key responsibilities
System transformation
Partner with the transformation team to support the transition to Duck Creek, our client's new reinsurance administration platform, ensuring continuity of reporting and data integrity throughout migration.
Planning & forecasting
Support annual and periodic reinsurance planning and forecasting processes, providing reliable management information to facilitate sound business decisions.
Regulatory & IFRS reporting
Collaborate on monthly reinsurance collateral reporting and annual Schedule F preparation. Monitor and ensure all reinsurance processes align with monthly and quarterly regulatory and IFRS financial close requirements.
Audit & internal controls
Apply audit expertise to review and strengthen internal controls over reinsurance accounting processes. Liaise with internal and external auditors, coordinate audit deliverables, and proactively address audit findings to drive continuous improvement.
Stakeholder management & issue resolution
Develop strong relationships with key internal reinsurance stakeholders and work with business partners to promptly resolve open issues related to reinsurance finance queries.
Team leadership & development
Lead, manage, and develop the reinsurance accounting team, establishing clear accountabilities and authority levels for direct reports to drive ownership, maintain performance standards, and support ongoing personal development.
Experience
* Reinsurance accounting and financial reporting experience, ideally within an insurance or reinsurance carrier
* External or internal audit background, with demonstrable experience in controls testing and audit coordination
* People management experience, with a track record of developing team capability
* Proven contribution to and delivery against project objectives, including system implementations
* Familiarity with IFRS standards and U.S. regulatory reporting (Schedule F)
Qualifications
Required
* Tertiary degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Preferred
* Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional designation (e.g. ACCA, CA)
* Experience with Duck Creek or comparable reinsurance administration systems
