We have partnered with our client in their search for a Senior Accounting Reconciliation Consultant to support a focused balance sheet reconciliation and accounting clean-up initiative within a manufacturing environment. This is a hybrid role based in the Atlanta, GA area.

This consultant will perform hands-on accounting analysis, investigate historical balances, and help the organization establish a clear and supportable understanding of its assets and liabilities. The assignment requires a forensic accounting mindset, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to work independently while partnering effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a comprehensive review and analysis of balance sheet accounts.
  • Complete detailed account reconciliations and identify unsupported, aged, or unusual balances.
  • Investigate accounting discrepancies using a forensic accounting approach.
  • Analyze and validate recorded assets and liabilities.
  • Document the nature, purpose, and supporting detail for balance sheet accounts.
  • Identify accounting and control gaps requiring remediation.
  • Research historical transactions and resolve reconciliation issues.
  • Organize findings and maintain clear supporting documentation.
  • Communicate findings, risks, and recommended actions to stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization.
  • Manage project priorities and deliverables within an accelerated engagement timeline.
  • Partner with accounting, finance, operations, and other cross-functional teams as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience performing balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and accounting clean-up work.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, assets, and liabilities.
  • Excellent analytical and investigative skills, including a forensic accounting mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently research and resolve complex accounting issues.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience working with SAP ERP systems, preferably SAP ECC.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for research, analysis, or data extraction.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet time-sensitive deliverables.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and comfortable working in a hands-on, project-focused environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
