SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and directing the quality management system, safety and environmental programs in accordance with customer and regulatory requirements. This position serves as a resource in quality methodology and continuous improvement. This position provides training to enable employees to achieve company safety and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Supervise and perform QA product testing in laboratory including selecting products for external analysis, complete nonconforming material disposition and summaries, and conducting product trend analysis
  • Initiate, investigate, participate in, follow up, and document corrective actions responding to customer complaints (internal and/or external) utilizing all resources available to ensure the effective implementation
  • Foster excellent relationships and communications with customers, ISO auditors, and regulatory agencies
  • Analyze processes or product quality problems and assist in the development of appropriate and effective corrective or preventive actions programs
  • Oversee and supports ISO operations at the production level, maintain and update documented QMS, coordinate ISO registration and certifications
  • Responsible for planning, coordinating, conducting internal audits and system checks, serve as lead internal auditor, and may be required to act as primary emergency coordinator and/or emergency spill response leader
  • Collaborate with additional departments to select and approve suppliers and vendors, conduct associated audits, resolve any quality issues, and maintain supplier quality ratings
  • Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve employee safety, product quality, and process efficiency by promoting safety, quality and continuous improvement by setting clear and consistent standards
  • Maintain and update product database, product and raw material specifications, historical quality and safety records, and MSDA books
  • Schedule and conduct safety committee meetings
  • Serve as liaison for third party and external auditors
  • Primarily responsible controlling hazardous waste including packaging and labeling containers, ensuring appropriate employees complete required trainings, and conduct inspections
  • Prepare and present quality reports, update contingency plans, initiate and approve departmental work procedures, perform QA employee performance evaluations

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in Quality, Safety, or Environmental systems in a manufacturing setting
  • Proven performance with strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Very strong computer skills required: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; SAP experience highly preferred
  • Superior problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and supervise a team
  • Strong detail orientation and attention to detail

  • Ability to work in front of a laptop or PC workstation for extended periods of time
  • Occasional standing, sitting, walking, and talking on the phone
  • Schedule flexibility to include weekend and after-hours workload
  • Some travel required to the customer headquarters/stores or off-site offices
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a fast-paced heavily office related, but includes retail store and customer visits, field /contractor observations, and supplier / vendor visits domestically and a work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to many internal departments in a fast-changing environment. Many duties listed above are time-sensitive and have strict deadlines for completion.
  • The work environment is primarily split between lab/office environment and the production floor
  • High noise levels in certain parts of the plant
  • High humidity and hot temperatures
  • Required PPE in the manufacturing area (shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection
