Our client is a nearly 100 year-old global, family-owned company that is an industry leader in providing wastewater treatment, material handling, and other systems to support the power, coal & other industries. We are exclusively partnering with them on their Quality Engineer opening to work out of their HQ in the northern Chicago suburbs near the Wisconsin border.

This is a brand-new role as our client has recently opened a brand new facility. This person will be the only Quality Engineer on staff and will be responsible for all incoming, outgoing, and supplier quality for the entire plant. Quality Engineer Responsibilities

  • Be a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in Quality Assurance processes to improve the consistency, effectiveness, and completeness of the inspection process.
  • Provide leadership & technical expertise to resolve manufacturing processes and product design problems.
  • Evaluate non-conformances (SDRs, NCRs and RMAs).
  • Lead all root cause analyses, investigations, problem resolution, and statistical analysis.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and non-conformance.
  • Review, validate, and/or resolve 1st article inspections.
  • Work with Plant leadership and Corporate HQ to prepare for any customer visits.
  • Inspect electro-mechanical equipment, machined parts, piping, steel fabrications, and assembled products to verify compliance with specifications and Good Manufacturing Practices.

Quality Engineer Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree in Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field is preferred. An experienced, non-degreed candidate will be considered.
  • A minimum of two or more years of experience as a Quality Engineer.
  • Certified Welding Inspector or Certified Quality Engineer is preferred. Knowledge of AWS, ASME, or CWI welding codes.
  • Previous experience with castings, machined parts, or steel fabrications.
  • Must have a positive attitude and willingness to help all departments within the plant.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with site leaders, customers, suppliers, and onsite Engineers.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% domestically.
