Our client is the world’s leading supplier of providing specialized equipment to companies in the fluid & beverage industries. We are partnering with them on a search for an experienced Quality Engineer for their location in the west Chicago suburbs. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for working on new product development and improving existing product lines. Our client has a great reputation in their industry with a dozen plants in 6 countries, several thousand employees, a diverse product line, a close-knit culture, flexible work schedules with a strong work/life balance, and this role involves minimal travel.

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for overseeing new product launches including being involved with product design, prototyping, scale-up, and continued troubleshooting & process improvements once the product is in full production. The Quality Engineer will also help with existing products to improve quality, reduce costs, and ensure all products meet internal & customer standards. We are looking for someone with a background in a variety of quality processes & tools like APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, corrective actions, 8D, and Lean Manufacturing. There will also be the opportunity to help the organization get ISO: 9001 certification.

Quality Engineer Responsibilities

  • The Quality Engineer oversees the Quality Systems for new and existing products.
  • Ensure the Quality System effective prevents defects while reducing the variations in processes.
  • Interact with internal teams as well as external customers & suppliers on root cause analysis and corrective actions to resolve any concerns relating to product quality.
  • Collect & leverage data to create KPI’s and metrics to record & analyze product quality to identify areas of continuous improvement.
  • Use Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) during new product development and product launches in the areas of design, testing, inspection standards, capacity, packaging, and Operator training.
  • Create or update quality documents including: PFMEA, control plants, process audits, and control logs.
  • Take part in customer audits on quality processes and systems.
  • Train employees in 8D problem solving and APQP.
  • Work with Technicians on first piece, in-process, and final inspection.

Quality Engineer Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree in Quality, Industrial, Process, Chemical, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline is required.
  • Any ASQ certification is preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Quality Engineer within manufacturing.
  • Previous experience in oversight of quality systems for new products as well as legacy products.
  • Previous exposure to fluid, valve, automotive, or electro-mechanical manufacturing is highly preferred.
