Lucas Group is partnering with a real estate investment company in the Denver Tech Center to identify a Property Accountant. The Property Accountant is responsible for maintaining the monthly financials for a group of properties on a specific portfolio and ensuring that these financials are completed timely at month-end.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparation of monthly financials, workbooks and schedules
  • Review Jr. Accountants' work
  • Resolve and research outstanding balance sheet items in a timely manner
  • Create and maintain client specific schedules, if applicable
  • Replacement Reserve preparation
  • Complete CAM reconciliations, and maintain leases on LORA, if applicable
  • Ensure timely payment of the following regardless of payment method (Ex. lender escrow, third party service, in-house, etc.)
    • Real estate property taxes
    • Personal property taxes
    • Insurance
    • Utility accounts
  • Monitor A/P balance 
  • Cash management-monitoring including but not limited to:
    • Maintain weekly cash sheet and review of A/P
    • Review the bank reconciliation prepared by the Jr. Accountant and resolve outstanding items
    • Client distributions
    • Reserve true ups
    • Reallocation of funds
  • Assist with annual audit and tax preparation requests
  • Review of annual budget for the following but not limited to:
    • Coding errors
    • Assumptions based on prior year performance
    • Accounts missing a budget
  • Preparation and review of the final monthly reporting package.
  • Completion of AME Report Card in a timely manner
  • Work with property staff on multiple items including but not limited to:
    • GPR issues that were not resolved pre-close and working with Software Support to get these issues resolved
    • Write-offs
    • Reclass and Accruals
    • Variance Notes
  • Completes all other projects or requests as assigned by Supervisor
  • Participate in department initiatives.
  • Keep Accounting Managers informed of all necessary items

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience with a concentration in Real Estate
  • Yardi experience preferred
  • An understanding of accounting principles and how to apply them
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others to address and solve problems
  • Positive attitude, organization with strong attention to detail required
