Our client is a multi-billion dollar global leader in packaging and we are seeing an experienced Production Manager to join one of their manufacturing facilities in the Western Chicago suburbs. The Production Manager should have a strong Continuous Improvement background to assist on Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing projects. Our client is focused on finding a high-caliber leader to join the team who takes pride in developing teams and providing growth opportunities for both Management and hourly personnel. The Plant Manager at this location is retiring soon and we are looking for someone with interest in moving into a higher level position within the company.
Production Manager Responsibilities
- The Production Manager will lead a 24/7, union manufacturing site with around 100 employees.
- The Production Manager will develop and implement process improvements throughout the site.
- Drive the facility to meet production goals, to meet all quality standards, ensure that all safety protocols are being followed, and develop high-caliber employees to advance their career within the organization.
- Interface with all internal departments including Production, Engineering, EH&S, Quality, Shipping & Receiving, and Maintenance.
- The Production Manager will be responsible for managing multiple Manufacturing Supervisors.
- Participate in the budgeting process, capital projects, staffing, training, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and career development process.
Production Manager Requirements
- A Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business, Operations or similar field.
- 5+ years of experience in production environments, preferably with union employees.
- Prior management experience in the military or production environments.
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or other related manufacturing methodology.
- Previous experience with packaging production or equipment is preferred but not required.
- Experience in complex or continuous manufacturing processes is ideal.
