Our client is an industry leader in providing tools and equipment used in rescue, fire protection, mining, rail, police, and military companies. We are exclusively partnering with them on a Production Manager role to oversee their CNC Machining & Assembly departments for their HQ in the southwest Chicago suburbs.

The Production Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and production within their manufacturing site. This involves working with Planning, Engineering, Sales, and Purchasing teams to ensure there are enough materials for production, work orders are scheduled, and all production meets all internal & external quality standards. The Production Manager will also be responsible for all hiring, bringing in automation to their manufacturing processes, and ensuring there is enough capacity to fulfill all production goals.

Production Manager Responsibilities

  • Oversee all production, machining, and assembly within this team.
  • Hiring, training, performance reviews, and disciplinary action for all employees within the Production & Assembly teams.
  • Develop and evaluate metrics (KPIs) to help define & evaluate production efficiency.
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities to bring in more automation into the plant floor to increase efficiency & reduce costs.
  • Work with the management team to implement all company policies and goals.
  • Identify training opportunities.
  • Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of equipment.
  • Justify the need for new capital equipment and help with the selection of equipment.

Production Manager Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree is highly preferred.
  • At least 5 or more years of leading production within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience with CNC Machines is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience identifying & justifying opportunities to increase automation within the site.
  • Experience finding ways to increase production capacity within a facility is highly beneficial.
  • Previous experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
