Overview
The Product Marketing Manager will lead our marketing team to develop and implement strategies, tactics and programs that drive demand in specific product lines. You will be responsible for presenting our products in ways that will strengthen our brand and boost sales. An attention to detail and eye for quality are critical to your success, along with an ability to grasp and present products in a way that resonates and clearly articulates how we solve our customer’s problems.
For this role, you need a technical understanding of the products and be a creative thinker. You should be familiar with various product marketing techniques, like email campaigns and pricing strategies.
Responsibilities
- Be the expert on our market, who our buyers are, how they buy and their key buying criteria
- Understand the competitive landscape, study our competition and how they are positioned
- Follow and analyze market trends to position products
- Translate technical details into benefits for the user
- Develop product marketing strategies (pricing, advertising, product launching)
- Craft compelling messages across marketing channels (landing pages, ad campaigns)
- Assess the effectiveness of the marketing programs that support our products on an ongoing basis, and report back on required changes.
- Work with various teams (design, content, acquisition, product, sales) to implement strategies
- Collaborate with marketing communications and sales to write product features, releases and ad copy
- Work with Engineering, R&D and Sales to plan product launches and releases of existing products, and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan.
- Act as the primary thought leader for the products you support, including speaking engagements and written works.
- Understand and support our sales channels; train them on the problems we solve for our buyers and users; develop internal tools and external collateral and teach them how and when to use it.
- Evaluate projects using relevant KPIs and feedback from existing and prospective customers
Requirements
- 7+ years’ experience in a technical product-oriented marketing position
- Must be technical
- Must be a strong public speaker, comfortable in front of large, senior groups, and a solid writer
- Background in design and copywriting is a plus
- Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams and third parties
- Familiar with product marketing tactics (e.g. integrated marketing campaigns)
- Working knowledge of web analytics tools (Google Analytics, WebTrends)
- Creativity
- Analytical mind and strong quantitative skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related engineering field
- Previous experience in Network Communications or Industrial markets preferred
