Our client is a multi-billion dollar global leader in the food industry and we are exclusively partnering with them on a Process Engineer search for their central Illinois facility. This is a niche role and requires previous experience with Xanthan gum, Hydrocolloids, or a similar thickening agent. The Hydrocolloids Process Engineer will be responsible for process improvements within their production, fermentation, and refining areas.

Hydrocolloids Process Engineer Responsibilities

  • Manage operations and process engineering within the Xantham Gum production and fermentation processes.
  • Work with Production and Engineering teams to assist with Hydrocolloid production.
  • Develop requests for proposals, equipment sizing, equipment utility lists, details P&ID’s, and other engineering duties.
  • Partner with other departments including Refinery and Fermentation to ensure maximum

production capacity is reached while meeting cost and quality targets.

  • Collaboration with R&D and other business units to identify process & technical improvement areas.
  • Participate in safety, quality, environmental, and production processes to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Verify that all processes and projects meet FDA, BRC, and GMP guidelines.

Hydrocolloids Process Engineer Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field is required. An advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • At least three years of experience as a Process Engineer or Project Engineer working with Hydrocolloids.
  • A strong knowledge of industrial chemical plant processes and systems including but not limited to pressure vessels, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, utilities and others.
  • Previous management experience is required.
  • Must have experience with hydrocolloids, Xanthan Gum, or a similar thickening agent is required.
