Our client is a part of one of the leading manufacturers of high-end shades, draperies, and decorative hardware. We are proud to be partnering with them on a Plant Manager opening along Lake Michigan near the Illinois & Wisconsin border.

The Plant Manager will be overseeing a site with up to 300 non-union employees in a manual assembly and custom production environment. We are looking for an experienced and degreed Plant Manager with a strong Lean background to help them in their transformation journey. The Plant Manager needs to be passionate about people development with a desire to help with hiring, improving retention, and developing employees into higher level positions within the organization.

Plant Manager Responsibilities

  • Lead the operation of the plant including manufacturing and employee management.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement including process improvements, cost reductions, and metric creation.
  • Drive the Lean Manufacturing transformation in partnership with the corporate initiatives.
  • Ensure a safe & secure operation of the facility adhering to all company and regulatory standards.
  • Interact with different cross-functional leaders to align individual department objectives to what is ideal for the entire operation of the site.
  • Help improve employee onboarding, training, and development processes.
  • Leverage data to evaluate and create KPI’s to track performance of the plant and to identify areas of additional improvement.

Plant Manager Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or a related field is required.
  • Must have substantial experience drive Lean Manufacturing improvements within a manufacturing facility.
  • Previous experience in a highly custom or discrete manufacturing environment.
  • Expectation is for the Plant Manager to be a visible leader on the manufacturing floor interacting with employees, assisting on projects, and being available for problem resolution.
  • A passion for developing new hire onboarding and employee retention programs.
  • Need to be comfortable with data analysis and creation of evaluation metrics.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish is a plus but not required.
