Lucas Group is retained by our client, a leading consumer goods manufacturer, to recruit a Plant Manager for their facility located in the Statesville, North Carolina area. The Plant Manager provides business leadership, manages plant and company resources, achieves customer satisfaction, and meets established quality, profitability, and strategic goals set forth by corporate leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Attains the facility's established product quality, productivity, waste, service, safety, and environmental objectives
- Communicates and administers company policy
- Develops people and organization
- Develops plant strategic plans to support Marketing goals
- Meets customer expectations
- Develops and executes plans for continuous improvement
- Meets objectives as assigned or developed jointly
- Develops annual budget with Controller support
- Develops annual capital budget to maintain assets and adds capabilities supporting strategic plans
- Leads projects as assigned to support corporate objectives
- Serves on corporate steering committees to facilitate attaining objectives or strategies
- Serves on NPD teams to develop new or modified products
Required Qualifications
- Action-oriented – takes projects from idea to implementation
- Excellent verbal and written communication ability to all levels inside and outside the plant
- Technical aptitude (Mechanics, Chemistry, etc.)
- Ability to manage P&L and other quantified results
- Computer experience in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or other required programs
- General cost accounting knowledge
- Project management knowledge
- Ability to communicate tactfully with personnel on all levels within the company
- Ability to administer disciplinary action when required
- Knowledge of Human Resources and EEO guidelines
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations
- Enterprise Resource Planning System knowledge
- ISO Quality Management System knowledge
- Process control and QA systems knowledge
- Familiarity with statistical methods and applications
- Ability to analyze financial data
- Ability to analyze product and process data

Job Requirements
- Undergraduate college degree with strong preference for technical or engineering curriculum
- Preference for exposure to accounting principles either in college or supplemental short course
- Eight years' experience in Management level positions in manufacturing, specifically continuous web, paper, labels, adhesive, packaging, or similarly complex process industries
Physical Demands
- The job requires significant time on a production floor and environment of 50 °F to 100 °F and considerable walking
- Travel can be required and in some cases international travel
- Environment will run the range from factory conditions listed above to typical office environment
- Must be able to flex work hours such that time on off shifts can be covered
