Title: Payroll Specialist

Compensation: $20/hr - $30/hr
We have partnered with our client in their search for a Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in managing and executing payroll processes, including responding to employee payroll inquiries, maintaining payroll records, addressing tax discrepancies, and ensuring compliance. This role supports accurate and timely payroll processing, effective troubleshooting, and documentation of payroll-related tasks and projects.
Responsibilities
Daily
- Monitor and manage the payroll inbox, responding promptly to employee payroll inquiries.
- Audit the benefit inbox and coordinate responses to benefit-related payroll inquiries alongside the Benefits Manager.
- Track, log, and escalate payroll system errors for timely resolution.
- Maintain and update accurate payroll statuses for employees on leaves of absence, ensuring adjustments are accurately reflected in payroll.
Weekly
- Review and reconcile Time & Attendance data, identifying and correcting missing punches or discrepancies.
- Convert and prepare ATP data from Lincoln into Quick Entry format to assist Payroll Administrator in processing payroll runs.
- Manage garnishment entries into Dayforce upon receipt and ensure accurate processing.
- Process and distribute payroll-related letters (Port & Convert letters).
- Ensure timely and accurate updates of 401k contributions and changes within Dayforce.
Current Projects to Support
Payroll SOP:
- Document payroll processing steps (regular runs, off-cycle runs, unique situations, etc.)
- Document roles and responsibilities in payroll processing.
- Document troubleshooting steps for common payroll errors.
- Create a guide for processing adjustments (retro payments, terminations, etc.).
Dayforce Tax Fallouts:
- Review and track tax discrepancies.
- Maintain documentation of resolved tax issues for future reference.
- Work with Dayforce to ensure all tax details are updated and accurate in the system.
- Coordinate resolution with tax jurisdictions.
Skills Required
- Minimum 3-5 years of payroll processing experience, ideally in medium to large organizations (500 employees or more) within Manufacturing (Ideally).
- Proficient knowledge of payroll software (Dayforce & D365) (Workday is a plus)
- Demonstrated experience managing garnishments, leave of absence tracking, and payroll adjustments.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
