Lucas Group has partnered with a strong financial based client in downtown Los Angeles to identify a Payroll and Benefits Administrator. This newly recreated role will report to the SVP of People and Administration, and will be responsible for weekly payroll of various internal entities.
The right person will oversee and be accountable for non-exempt and exempt payroll activities associated with new hires, rehires, promotions, raises, tax information, benefit deductions, awards, leaves of absence, expense reimbursements, bonuses, garnishments, child support withholding as well as other payroll related reporting for this client and various related entities. Support daily benefit administration of health and welfare plans. Offer support and guidance to auxiliary team members as needed. Act as support on HR functions such as on boarding and off boarding activities. Interface with employees and collaborate with external partners to provide quality service to our staff and clients.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for controlling timely and accurate payroll input and its review through internal and external payroll and human resources systems, such as Insperity – iSolved or other system experience.
- Ensure that only authorized salary information is used, proper accounts are affected, and PTO accruals are accurate.
- Strong understanding of payroll related labor laws in multiple states.
- Assess and applies all payroll policies and procedures relative to employee FLSA classification, verify pay calculations of manual checks for accuracy in terms of overtime, pre-tax deductions, social security wage limits, etc.
- Demonstrate definitive skills in the use of other internal systems, which includes auditing time labor management entries for correct pay calculations.
- Complete and support general reporting procedure as it relates to payroll, including adjustments and accruals in coordination with finance and accounting.
- Support benefit and human resources administration of 401k and LOA’s to deliver timely and accurate results to staff and clients.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of PC applications, specifically MS Excel.
- Strong knowledge of laws impacting payroll practices in multiple states. California is a must.
- Knowledge of online payroll and HR systems, basic auditing concepts, reconciliation and controls.
- Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact. Must be able to cultivate respectful and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds both internally and externally.
- Capable of taking direction from more than one supervisor.
- Must be available and willing to work extended hours (and/or overtime for applicable non-exempt positions) per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as necessary to meet its business needs.
- Must be available and willing to travel locally to such locations and with such frequency as necessary to meet its business needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and/ or 5-10 years applicable experience in payroll and benefits administration.
- Minimum 5 years of relative payroll and benefits experience required. HR resources experience a plus.
- Experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Certificates, licenses, and/or registrations:
- Certified Payroll Professional Certification (CPP) a plus.)
