Location: Dublin, Ireland (onsite sporadic, once every 2 weeks potentially)
Engagement: Contract (6 months initial)

Overview

Korn Ferry is partnering with a leading financial services client in Dublin to appoint an experienced Payments Solution Architect to support a major payments transformation programme.

This role will focus on SEPA Instant, modern payment channels, and core payments platform integration, ensuring scalable, compliant, and future-ready payment solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end payments architecture across SEPA Instant and broader SEPA schemes.

  • Define and govern solution architecture across payment channels (online banking, mobile, APIs, gateways).

  • Lead integration of payment solutions with core banking and third-party platforms.

  • Provide architectural oversight for real-time payments processing and high-availability systems.

  • Collaborate with business, change, and engineering teams to align solutions with regulatory and operational requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with European payments regulations and scheme rules.

  • Produce architecture artefacts including solution designs, integration patterns, and governance documentation.


Required Experience

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect within banking or financial services.

  • Strong expertise in SEPA Instant and SEPA payment schemes.

  • Deep knowledge of payment channels (digital, API, gateway, host-to-host).

  • Experience with real-time / high-volume payment systems.

  • Familiarity with payments platforms such as OPF (Open Payment Framework) and FIS solutions.

  • Strong understanding of payments messaging standards (e.g., ISO 20022).


Desirable

  • Experience in Irish or European banking environments.

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (PSD2, EPC schemes).

  • Experience supporting large-scale payments transformation programmes.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

  • Experience working in complex, regulated environments.

  • Strategic thinking with hands-on architectural delivery.
