Title: Paralegal

Employment: Contract to Hire

Location: Hybrid in New Haven, CT

Compensation: $40-$45/hour (w/ access to Medical Benefits, PTO)

We have partnered with our client in their search for a Paralegal to assist and provide a range of legal and administrative support to five attorneys and other professional staff in the Investments Office, working closely with one other paralegal.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains reference and client files; organizes and tracks investment and non-investment files for Investments Office attorneys.
  • Assembles KYC, AML, FATCA reporting, and other compliance documentation.
  • Completes investment subscription documents, incumbency certificates, state registration forms, powers of attorney, applications, notarizations, and related materials.
  • Organizes and updates in-house corporate documentation, including signature delegations, authorizations, and minute books; manages corporate housekeeping such as registration fees for investment entities.
  • Reviews legal forms and documents for accuracy; drafts contracts and other legal documents using approved templates.
  • Maintains compliance calendars and tracks ongoing projects, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Coordinates with the Investments Office and university partners on diligence requests, internal analyses, and responses to third-party inquiries.
  • Organizes, analyzes, cross-checks, and validates information; summarizes agreements and related documents.
  • Conducts legal, statistical, documentary, factual, and records research.
  • Authors and signs correspondence that does not contain independent legal opinions or legal advice.
  • Manages legal invoices and generates summary reports.
  • Maintains reference materials and law library resources.
  • Provides administrative and operational support as needed

Skills Required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience as a corporate or investments paralegal.
  • Produces accurate, error-free work; highly thorough and detail-oriented.
  • Able to take direction while working independently and proactively.
  • Consistently meets deadlines and demonstrates initiative.

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience
