Title: Network Engineer
Location: Remote w/ 10-50% travel during the contract

Compensation: $50 - $60/hr.
We have partnered with our client in their search for a Network Engineer. The Network Engineer implements secure network connectivity between commercial and Microsoft Government Community Cloud High (GCC High) environments. The role partners with cloud, security, migration, and application teams to configure virtual private network (VPN) gateways, firewalls, routing, Domain Name System (DNS), and monitoring needed for user access and migration throughput. Success is measured by stable connectivity, validated bandwidth, secure access, and timely resolution of network issues during migration waves.
Responsibilities
- Implement secure connectivity between commercial and Microsoft GCC High environments
- Configure Azure networking components, virtual private network gateways, firewall rules, routing, and Domain Name System records
- Validate network performance, bandwidth, latency, and throughput for migration waves and user access
- Monitor connectivity health and respond to network incidents during cutover and onboarding activities
- Partner with cloud, security, endpoint, database, and application teams to sequence migration dependencies
- Document network designs, configuration changes, validation results, and operational handoff steps
- Troubleshoot access, routing, name resolution, and firewall policy issues across hybrid environments
- Support remote work with planned travel to client sites for discovery, testing, and deployment events
Skills Required
- Azure networking configuration for hybrid or cloud-to-cloud environments
- Virtual private network (VPN) and gateway implementation, validation, and troubleshooting
- Firewall policy configuration, rule review, and connectivity testing
- Routing design and issue resolution across segmented enterprise networks
- Domain Name System (DNS) configuration, validation, and troubleshooting
- Network monitoring tools for availability, bandwidth, latency, and performance trends
- Security-aware handling of sensitive client data within Microsoft GCC High environments
- Migration support for commercial-to-GCC High connectivity and user access
- Clear documentation of network diagrams, runbooks, test results, and change records
- Cross-functional coordination with infrastructure, security, identity, and endpoint teams
Education & Work Experience
- Relevant degree preferred in information technology, computer science, networking, or equivalent experience
- 6-9 years of network engineering experience in enterprise, cloud, or hybrid infrastructure environments
- Candidates without a degree must have a qualifying Microsoft Azure certification, Microsoft 365 certification, Microsoft Intune certification, or Desktop MCSC certification
- Experience supporting sensitive data environments, including Microsoft GCC High or comparable regulated cloud environments
