We have partnered with our client in their search for a MySQL/DevOPS/Cloud Sr. Database Administrator to work remotely, EST
Responsibilities
- Support the database management system and all related software.
Design and Build Database Environments (Assist in developing estimates and schedules for new projects and/or extensions to existing systems).
Technical Support for DBMS Environments (Provide technical support and perform database administration for all development and production databases on multiple environments).
Willingness to be on call and support critical database issues that arise in the evening or on weekends.
Skills Required
- deep experience handling MySQL Production replication along Database Support skills with focus on stability, reliability, and performance.
- cloud centric database experience especially with Azure and AWS
- Experience with DevOps centric areas.
- Strong experience in MySQL replication setup and support.
- Experiences with other databases such as Oracle, PostgresMongoDB/CosmosDB, MSSQL a plus.
- Experience in query optimization and performance improvement.
- Knowledge of the cloud and managed services such as MS Flex Server or AWS RDS.
- Experience with running Cloud Infrastructure. Azure Cloud experience a plus.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD tools such as
- Terraform/Terragrunt and GitHub Actions
- Modern observability/alerting platform experience: Grafana, ELK, DataDog, Splunk, etc.
- An eye toward process improvement and automation.
- Sharp analytical skills and problem-solving technique.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Good mastery of Enterprise technologies, multizone, multi-region replication strategies.
- Automation skills in Bash, Ansible, Python a plus.
- Capable of handling multiple assignments and additional responsibilities
- Extensive MySQL technical experience in the following:
High Availability solutions using replication, Disaster Recovery solutions
Backup and recovery experience with Percona Tools [i.e., Xtrabackup] and snapshots
Performance tuning, production operations & support
Security Administration
- Experience performing MySQL patches and Major version upgrades
Education & Work Experience
- 5 years MySQL DBA working experience\
- Bachelor's degree in related field
