Title: Materials Manager

Position Description
Our client is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and career minded individual to serve as their Materials Manager to provide leadership, coaching and direction to the Materials and Logistics Teams. This role drives daily material processes by securing an optimum supply of inventory required for manufacturing to meet daily customer demand to our global customers. The Materials Manager is responsible to organize, plan and direct the procurement of materials and services to satisfy financial, quality, and on-time delivery requirements. This leader will also develop and implement strategies directed at achieving Increased DPO, Inventory Optimization, Purchase Price Variance, Material Planning, and Supplier Relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Principle owner responsible for driving/implementing materials process improvements to support business goals with the emphasis on Supplier Management, On Time Delivery, PPV, Inventory Turns, Inventory Accuracy, Days Payable Outstanding, Material Flow and Logistics maximization
- Develop and lead negotiation strategies with suppliers and establish contractual agreements involving optimal minimum order quantities and lead times
- Identify, manage, and problem solve material availability issues to reduce non-value added time spent on expediting
- Establishes and maintains a high level of business and personal ethics following company standard operating procedures and ensures everyone operates in a similar manner
- Responsible for driving engagement of the Materials Team including professional development and team building
- Identify opportunities for improvement in inventory management including inventory reduction, turns and E&O management while continuing to meet delivery targets
- Lead Daily Management of materials metrics at the Plant SQDIP meetings
- Perform data analytics to drive strategic action plans for materials metrics
- Experienced in Lean, Kanban and various continuous improvement initiatives with an emphasis on providing a high value of return
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a business or engineering discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Lean Manufacturing Environment - procurement, inventory management, or operations, with a solid understanding of manufacturing (fabrication / heat treating / machining / electronics) processes and techniques
- Working knowledge and experience with ERP systems, to include experience in working with various Lean or process improvement techniques to include project management or team experience. APICS certification valuable
- Proficient in Word, Excel (pivot tables, etc), PowerPoint, performing queries in ERP systems (eg. Oracle, SAP, Infor, Dynamics), along with data gathering, manipulation, and analysis expertise
- Understanding of Kanban and MRP concepts
- Knowledge of procurement best practices, strategic sourcing, and inventory management, including global sourcing
- Results driven and possess excellent organization, leadership, communication (written and oral), and presentation skills for effective interface at all levels of the company including outside suppliers
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, problem solving, project management, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated success in developing high performing teams
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results, make an immediate impact, and manage by fact
- Knowledge of standard financial processes and budgeting, with solid business acumen
- Superior leadership skills with the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
- Ability to travel (domestically and internationally) 5%
